FoxID32 Lite ID Software Database FAQ

  1. How many records can I safely store in a single database?
  2. Is FoxID32 capable of sharing information with third -party databases?
  3. Can I export signatures for transferring to another database or other external use?
  4. Can I make a field value unique in the database?

1. How many records can I safely store in a single database?

The maximum file size of the database is what limits the number of records in a single database. This is 1 Gigabyte. If using a camcorder and capture card, expect the database to allow 50,000 records before preventing additional records. If you are also capturing fingerprints or signatures, expect the database to allow 40,000 records.

2. Is FoxID32 capable of sharing information with third -party databases?

Yes. We have a number of special software interfaces which allow one or two-way communication between FoxID32 and other databases. The most commonly interfaced systems are the Tecom Ares and Ascent 2000 access control systems. However we have successfully interfaced with many student databases, access control, membership systems and human resource systems.

3. Can I export signatures for transferring to another database or other external use?

Unfortunately, captured signatures are not retrievable objects from within the FoxID32 database. If you capture signatures using a scanner, it is best to keep a copy of these signature image files if you believe you'll need to use them again.

4. Can I make a field value unique in the database?

There are two fields that uniquely identify a record. One is the Record Number field, the other is the Card Number field. The Record Number field is not user editable while the Card Number is. Also, the Record Number field will not revert back to a previously used number that was deleted while the Card Number field will allow the operator to manually re-enter a previously deleted number. Once a Card Number has been entered into the database, whether manually or automatically, no other record in the database can use that same number until it has been deleted, hence making it unique.
